We will depart on the Podorange from Ushuaia, the second most populous city in Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego. From Ushuaia we will sail East, through the Beagle Channel to the city of Puerto Williams on the Chilean island of Navarino. From there, we will cross the Drake Passage sailing east of Cape Horn. During our traverse of the Drake Passage, we will cross the “furious 50’s” and the “screaming 60’s” - the notorious regions between 50th and 70th degree southern latitudes known for their rough sailing conditions. Icebergs will gradually appear: the conditions will demand increasing attention, especially during the night shifts. We will reach the Antarctic continent at Graham Land, and will continue further south to the Ukrainian scientific base Akademik Vernadsky, located on the 65th Southern Parallel, marking our southernmost point.
